Foz is rightfully considered one of the most expensive places in the greater Porto area. It has a truly unique location: it is located at the mouth of the Douro River, right on the ocean. Foz is located on a slope on the right side of the river and therefore has very good natural light. The rays of the sun, combined with the view of the boundless expanses of the ocean, determine the advantageous location.
Despite the fact that there is no metro in Foges, the most expensive real estate is located there. The prestige of this place is undeniable.
So, what are the features of renovation in this area?
First of all, it should be said that since this is an expensive area, a large number of owners can afford expensive and sophisticated repairs. However, in Portugal, high cost is not always combined with sophistication. The year the house was built, its footage and location are important here. It is the location that primarily affects the price. The quality of the finishing and repair itself is not always the determining factor. Even a house in a state of "demolition" in Foja will be expensive.
But we have digressed a bit. Let's get back to the topic of renovation. We managed to get acquainted with the apartment, which was about 120 sq. m. and was located approximately in the center of Foz. The owners wanted everything to look in accordance with modern requirements and therefore completely replaced the old tiles in the bathrooms with new ones, leveled the walls and ceilings, pasted a wide ceiling cornice, repainted the ceilings and walls, pasted wallpaper on several walls, laid parquet boards everywhere and completely replaced the doors. The kitchen and plumbing were also completely replaced.
At the same time, this certainly wonderful area has plenty of housing where the owners want to limit themselves to cosmetic repairs. As in any other area, there are often requests for repainting walls and minor repairs inside the premises. Here, as elsewhere in Porto, many are looking for contractors for local repairs of a leaking roof (if it is a private house).
It is also not uncommon here to find apartment buildings, during the renovation of which there is a need to replace plumbing or hidden plumbing pipes, replace electrical wiring, install drywall, lay tiles and flooring.
