During apartment renovations in Portugal, there is often a need to replace, remodel or completely renovate plumbing equipment, as well as plumbing pipes hidden in the walls.

Since most of the housing stock in Portugal is quite old, most plumbing pipes in the walls are metal and are subject to corrosion and other adverse effects over time.
In addition, there is often a need to redesign the premises or at least replace, for example, a bathtub with a shower cabin. All this leads to the need to perform such work as replacing pipes hidden in the walls or floor.
During the implementation of complex renovation work in Portugal, we always try to completely replace old metal pipes with new plastic or metal-plastic ones. This is not always possible, since often the repairs are cosmetic in nature and do not involve such a global intervention in the engineering systems of an apartment or house in Matosinhos, Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto.
The issue of draining waste water should be approached with particular care. You have probably noticed metal covers in the floor that cover a plastic "cup" with several holes inside. If you look closely inside this "cup", you will notice several holes of different diameters: one of the holes will be wider, and the others will be narrower. Water flows from the narrow holes into the "cup" after draining it in a sink, washbasin, washing machine, dishwasher, shower, bathtub. And this water flows out into a large hole, after which it enters a vertical sewer riser.
Water is always drained from the toilet into another sewer riser and through a pipe of a larger diameter. Cutting a new elbow into an existing sewer pipe is always a more difficult task than using an existing pipe. Therefore, when we do complex repairs of apartments in Matosinhos, Vila Nova de Gaia, Ermisende, Porto in Portugal, we try to leave the toilet in the place where it was originally. Or we make a suspended toilet with an installation system next to the existing toilet, and after installing the installation, we sew up the plumbing pipes with plasterboard.
When replacing plumbing pipes, it is very important to understand how exactly the plumbing will be located and what kind of mixers will be used. Recently, concealed mixers have become increasingly popular, in which cold and hot water are mixed inside the wall. These mixers are especially demanding, since it is necessary to take into account the depth of their installation, taking into account the finishing coating, and it is also necessary to connect the pipes to it strictly according to the diagram, since otherwise after the complete finishing of the room you will not be able to change or modify them. More than once, we have witnessed how errors in connecting pipes to the mixer led to malfunctions in its operation.
