Recently, invisible doors (doors without casing) can be seen more and more often in design projects. As for Portugal, this is not quite relevant here. In addition, there is a very limited number of companies ready to supply such doors. All this determines their high cost and, as a consequence, low demand. We have already written that many renovations in apartments and houses have an investment component and no one will overpay for doors.
And if invisible doors are not particularly popular in Portugal, then doors of a higher standard height (from floor to ceiling) have become much more widespread. Although the manufacture of such doors is also not an easy task. In addition, they are also not cheap.
It is worth understanding that the installation of doors is carried out at the final stage. Before installing the doors, the flooring work must already be completed. As for painting the walls, the finishing layer is usually painted after the installation of the doors themselves, as well as the baseboard. If the door frame or baseboard does not fit tightly to the wall, the cracks are sealed with a special acrylic sealant, which is then painted along with the final painting of the walls.
As for painting doors during apartment renovations in Portugal, it can be done on site in the apartment, or it can be done in a paint shop with polyurethane paint. And if in the first case the painting is done with water-soluble paint, which does not protect the door itself very well from the effects of moisture, then when painting with polyurethane paint, not only higher quality is guaranteed, but also complete protection from moisture.

And we consider protection from moisture penetration to be a very important circumstance, since if a good dehumidifier is not installed in an apartment or house or the necessary humidity is not maintained in any other way, then at some point the door may simply not close, since it will change in size (swell from moisture). True, then in the summer the door may dry out again and return to its original position.
So which painting option should you choose? The answer is very simple. Focus on your budget and expectations from the renovation. If quality is important, if it is important that the doors close and open well and the budget allows, then it is definitely better to spend more time and money and paint with polyurethane paint in a paint shop.
